The New York Jets complete their preseason schedule on Friday night, with their annual contest against fellow MetLife Stadium tenants, the New York Giants. The Jets won their second preseason game last week, shutting out the Pittsburgh Steelers to move to 1-1 in the preseason, whilst the Giants reached the same record after a resounding win over the Miami Dolphins.
Head Coach Aaron Glenn hasn’t committed to whether starters will take part in the final game, but it seems likely that they will be held out for most of the contest, with some of the players further down the roster given opportunities to impress in the final game action before the season kicks off on September 13.
Among those likely to get an extended look is QB Cade Klubnik, who has impressed in limited playing time during Training Camp and preseason so far. The Clemson graduate will start the season behind Geno Smith on the depth chart but would provide a boost in depth at the position if he is able to show signs of development during his rookie campaign.
Edge rusher Nate Lynn only signed with the team last week, but a two-sack performance in the preseason tilt with the Steelers put him on the radar for Jets fans, and he will get a chance to deliver an encore performance on Friday as he looks to impress his new coaching staff.
